Triumphing Over Temptation
Gen 39:5-12, 1 Cor 10:13
Gen 39:9 ". . . How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?" 1 Cor 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Like Joseph, we can triumph over temptation if we understand:
Our Struggle with Sin
v 7 And after a time his master's wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said, "Lie with me." 10 And as she spoke to Joseph day after day, he would not listen to her, to lie beside her or to be with her. 1Cor 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man.
Our Stance on Sin
v 9 How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?"
1 Cor 10:13 God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability
Our Snubbing of Sin
v. 8 But he refused
1 Cor 10:13 he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape,
Our Success over Sin
v 12 But he left his garment in her hand and fled and got out of the house.
