Changed Forever 2 Samuel 9:1-13
2 Samuel 9:7 And David said to him, "Do not fear, for I will show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan, and I will restore to you all the land of Saul your father, and you shall eat at my table always." Matthew 27:37 This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.
Like Mephibosheth we can experience the grace and mercy that only comes from the King when we realize:
The Condition without the King
Do not fear 2 Sam 19:28 For all my father's house were but men doomed to death before my lord the king, 2 Sam 4:4, Eph 2:1-3 But you were dead in your trespasses and sins. . . .
The Covenant of the King
for I will show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan, 1 Samuel 20:14-16 14 If I am still alive, show me the steadfast love of the LORD, that I may not die; 15 and do not cut off your steadfast love from my house forever, when the LORD cuts off every one of the enemies of David from the face of the earth." 16 And Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David. Jer 31:31-34, Heb 8:8-12 Behold the days are coming declares the Lord, when I will establish a new covenant Heb 12:24 Jesus the mediator of a new covenant.
The Call by the King
And David said to him 2 Sam 9:3 Is there still someone . . . ? 2 Sam 9:5 Then King David sent and brought him from the house. Jesus- Matt 11: 28 Come to me all who labor and are heavy laden. Rev 22:17 Whosoever will my come. And whosever will, let him take the water of life freely
The Change because of the King
I will restore to you all the land of Saul your father, and you shall eat at my table always." 2 Cor 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
