Leap Over

Updated: Apr 30

Today's Bible Reading: 2 SAMUEL 22:1-51, PSALM 18

2 Samuel 22:30

For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. Ps 18:29

We have many things that overwhelm us.  There are many “troops” that hinder our progress and many “walls” that halt our advance. We become stalled. We are at a standstill. We want to move forward. We want to get past these walls. We have tried and failed. We have fought and lost. We want to, but can’t.

David encountered difficulties. He was hemmed in by a host of his enemies and shut in by unscalable walls. Yet he ran through the troop. He leaped over the wall. His strength was not in himself, but in His Savior. His confidence was in the Lord. His impassable and insurmountable situation was not impossible for His God. For by Him, by His God, it could be done. His trust was in Him. His hope was in the one who could make walls fall and enemies flee. His assurance was in the one who could give him strength to run through a troop or power to leap over a wall.

We serve this same God. No battalion can hinder us and no barricade can hamper us. We will march on. We will move ahead. By His power we will prevail. By His strength we will succeed. We need not fear the massiveness of our predicament or worry about the magnitude of our problem. When we place our trust in the Lord, we will run through our trouble and leap over our difficulties. Advance we must and advance we will. No wall can shut us out and no warrior can stand in our way whenever our trust is in our God. By him nothing can divert our progress. .

So, when you experience difficult days, consider David’s declaration. Like him, don’t wail, whine or worry about your dilemma, but put your trust in Him who can and will deliver you. Your sin held you from intimacy with God and excluded you from His presence, but the Lord Jesus become the provision to deliver you from sin and bring peace with the Father. By Jesus the enemy force before you and the wall of enmity between you was utterly destroyed, enabling you to have peace with God. Herein is your hope and help, He saved you from your sin; He can save you from your current crisis. You trusted Him then, so trust Him now.

Today whenever you encounter walls halting your progress and predicaments hindering your pursuit, trust that by the Lord you can leap over it or run through it. Know that by Him the enemy will flee and the wall will fall. Ask Him to help you remember and rely on this text to move passed it or get over it.
