Continually

Updated: Jul 29

Today's Bible Reading: ISAIAH 58:1-63:14

Is 58:11 The Lord will guide you continually

We all look for guidance. We hope for God’s clear direction for our life. We are often uncertain and unconvinced of the course we must take. We are often indecisive in our decisions. We at times are unwilling to step out into the unseen. We can often find ourselves hesitanting to go forward in faith. We have no reassurance of the route we will take. We want to know that we are pursuing the right path and we are walking the right way. We just want to know before we go.

We seek guidance from friends and family, from the voice within, from circumstances, from wise counsel and from the word. These are great sources of insight and can either help or hinder our direction. But, we have no guarantee that what we are hearing, seeing and feeling will guide us well.

Here we are assured of divine direction amidst apprehension. We are sure of Godly guidance and thus can be confidence in our concern. Here we are seen by the unseen and directed by the undetected. It is the one who sees the beginning from the end who guides our way. It is the one who made and sustains all things who directs our way.

His promise is that He will guide us. His guidance is not situational or sporadic. His guidance is continual and consistent. His guidance is sure. Every moment of everyday He directs us. Every moment He is looking out for us and looking ahead of us. He sees the dangers and diverts our direction. He removes the obstacles that lie in our way and the opponents who lie in wait. He arranges His path for His people. He determines the best route for His redeemed. It may not be the shortest or the easiest path, but it’s His path. His direction may lead us up steep mountains, down slippery slopes or through soggy bottoms, but He will get us where He wants us to go and He will get the glory for getting us there. His direction will be clear. His path will be prevalent. It may not be the path that we would choose but it’s the path He chose for us. We can trust Him to be a good and faithful guide.

He doesn’t always guide us the by what is comfortable of convenient. Sometimes it’s over scorched places and rough patches. But He will always lead us where we need to go, not necessarily where were we wanted to go. Our concern should not be where we are led, but who is leading us. We may not see His hand, but His hand guides us. We may not hear His voice, but He is speaking into our situation. We may never sense His presence, but He goes with us along our way.

Today thank the Lord for His continual guidance. Thank Him that you don’t have to see or sense His guidance to affirm that He will guide you. Praise Him that He will fulfill His plan and purpose for you. Thank Him for His guidance.
