So Doing

Updated: Oct 25

Matthew 24:46 Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes.

Mediocrity dismantles ministries. It strips away all the Savior intends. It stalls our service. It sidelines the saints. It slows the progress of God’s kingdom. It breeds idleness and indifference. There is no place for mediocrity among the master’s servants.

Jesus possesses a question to His followers. He asks, “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time?” His answer is, “that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes.” Ministering takes precedence over mediocrity. Service supersedes slothfulness.

Those who belong to the Savior, serve the Savior. They serve Him with gladness from a grateful heart. Their delight is in serving Him. They perpetually serve Jesus. They continue until He comes. So that when He comes, He will find them “so doing”.

His servants are faithful to Him. They are faithful to their calling and remain faithful in their ministry. They are trusted by the master for their task. They are unwavering, undeterred, dedicated, committed and steadfast in serving Him.

.

His servants are wise. They are wise in understanding the nature of their calling and wise in the administering of their calling. They are astute and aware. They are smart and sensible in serving Him. .

Jesus calls these diligent dedicated “doers” blessed. The entrance of the master finds them engaged. He finds them single-minded in their service. He sees their devotion and dedication. His approval is articulated. They are blessed by their Master. We who follow Jesus should pray that we can keep consistently and faithfully serving Him, for we don’t know the day or the hour when He will come. We should pray that He will find us “so doing” when He comes!

Today realize that you are the Lord’s servant. As His follower, you are to diligently and delightfully serve Him. Ask Him to help you to not let anyone or anything distract you or detour you from faithfully serving Jesus. Commit to serve Him till He comes again or takes you home to be with Him. Either way, let Him find you “so doing
